This is the 2019 Valentino Billboard ad that I designed and created for Shibuya Square Tokyo. The concept was about hacking Shibuya square. I wanted it to feel like someone had taken over the media steam which was hard because you only have 15 seconds of video. I created a custom blue screen of death and windows using Valentino branding and text and animated the video frame by frame using Premiere Pro and Photoshop. I didn’t want it to come across too clean, it had to be hacked together.

5 Hologram instagram videos

Hologram Artwork

I recorded these videos for the Valentino Instagram account, there is no CGI or after effects only the original footage shot on an iPhone X using a hologram machine.

My recreation of the 5 house codes of Valentino was displayed using Hologram Technology in a bespoke mirrored display case. This was housed on the ground floor of the store, with the pop-up collection on sale in the basement level.

Two weeks prior to the show I was asked to create a 6 video installation to be played in the pop-up store.

My concept was to show the method to my recreation of the house codes into GIF format. Hence, I created a bespoke Valentino computer that booted a editing program and command line tool to upload the images to an AI service.

I remember rendering this out on my laptop in Starbucks after 18 hours straight, without moving.

Recreating the valentino house codes

pixel art and .gif animation

These are the 5 GIFs I created for the Tokyo pop up store. They can be used by searching ‘Valentino’ when adding a GIF sticker to an Instagram story.

I drew each of these animations frame by frame using my iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil. I was really into the idea of recreating a digital version of the Valentino house codes, as if I could take the fashion house and implement it’s character into a video game.
